Oma's Swedish Apple Pie

The easiest apple pie recipe you can find. Always a hit. Great served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients:
  • approximately 4 large peeled apples, sliced (or however many you have on hand to fill a pie plate)
  • 1/2 cup to 1 cup butter, as desired
  • 1/2 cup white sugar + 1/2 cup brown sugar, or 1 cup sugar if you don't have both
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
  • cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Grease a pie plate
  • Slice apples into pie plate and sprinkle with cinnamon
  • In a small sauce pan, melt butter and mix in sugar. Stir until the butter is mixed into the sugar.
  • Take off heat, add flour and salt, mix until blended. Mixture will be stiff.
  • Add egg and mix until smooth.
  • Add nuts if desired.
  • Spread mixture over the apples.
  • Bake at 350° for about 45 to 60 minutes to see how it looks. It's done when crust is golden brown.
