Oma's Swedish Apple Pie
The easiest apple pie recipe you can find. Always a hit. Great served with vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients:
- approximately 4 large peeled apples, sliced (or however many you have on hand to fill a pie plate)
- 1/2 cup to 1 cup butter, as desired
- 1/2 cup white sugar + 1/2 cup brown sugar, or 1 cup sugar if you don't have both
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
- cinnamon
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Grease a pie plate
- Slice apples into pie plate and sprinkle with cinnamon
- In a small sauce pan, melt butter and mix in sugar. Stir until the butter is mixed into the sugar.
- Take off heat, add flour and salt, mix until blended. Mixture will be stiff.
- Add egg and mix until smooth.
- Add nuts if desired.
- Spread mixture over the apples.
- Bake at 350° for about 45 to 60 minutes to see how it looks. It's done when crust is golden brown.
