Mary Ann's Never Fail Banana Cake
This is a "never-fail" recipe that always turns out well. - Mary Ann
Cake Ingredients:
- 2-1/4 cups flour
- 1-2/3 cups sugar
- 1-1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1-1/4 tsp soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup shortening or butter
- 2/3 cup buttermilk (or add 2 tsp vinegar to normal milk)
- 3 eggs
- 1-1/4 cup mashed bananas
- 2/3 cup chopped nuts
Vanilla Butter Frosting Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup soft butter
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1-1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 Tbsp milk
Instructions:
- Blend all cake ingredients for 1/2 minute at low speed.
- Beat 3 minutes on highest speed.
- Bake in 9x13 pan at 350° for 45-50 minutes.
- Mix frosting ingredients with beater until smooth. Spread over cooled cake.
